Senior Network Planning Engineer will be the subject matter expert for architecting, implementing, testing, and troubleshooting enterprise telecommunications networks in support of common business applications and objectives.  Will lead the design and implementation of architecture for proposals and/or projects to build or enhance enterprise networks with 4000+ sites.  This position will develop/champion new networking ideas/technologies, solve highly complex networking problems with significant business impact, work under consultative direction for long-range business objectives, and interact internally with management and customers on significant business matters.  The position also requires the ability to lead and mentor team members in the lifecycle support of the network and associated management systems, while working with all levels of operations teams to improve system availability and efficiencies. 

  • Develops telecommunications network architecture designs, studies and plans; supports design, test readiness, and operational readiness reviews.
  • Provides senior program managers with recommendations on network engineering approaches and strategies for new and continued business.
  • Provides Tier III support for network infrastructure trouble resolution efforts and provides on-call and off-hours support when needed.
  • Proactively researches and evaluates tools and technologies, as appropriate, to the network environment, while developing solutions to increase performance and lower the total cost of ownership.
  • Develops, implements, and manages network engineering processes including configuration management and design standards to ensure compliance, relevancy, and sustainability.
  • Performs network capacity planning by monitoring and analyzing network, performance and availability.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors with communications focus or a minimum of 20+ year’s relevant telecommunications network experience.
  • Must have proven ability to architect, implement and support telecommunications network infrastructure solutions of similar scope.
  • In depth implementation and troubleshooting experience of telecommunications networks.
  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting WAN topologies using T-Carrier and Optical Carrier and Pseudo-wire transmission mediums.  
  • Excellent customer skills for direct interaction with internal and external teams.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Exceptional verbal, written (including the development of procedural documentation), interpersonal, and presentation skills desired.
  • Experience working in a telecommunications carrier environment performing large-scale mission critical network implementations is a plus.
  • Experience with network and performance management tools, security tools and appliances, layer two and layer 3 technologies, wireless communications, cloud computing and telecommunications services and technologies is preferred.
  • Self-driven and resourceful in achieving goals independently as well as in cooperation with others.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.
  • The ability to socialize ideas, make recommendations, and gather team consensus to move forward.
