Role Summary/Purpose

This role will provide analytic support for all compensation processes including but not limited to: the annual compensation planning cycle, market survey submission, benchmarking activities and the development of variable incentive compensation plans.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct analyses regarding compensation and benefit programs to meet business objectives.
  • Support HR Generalist with compensation related matters and job leveling
  • Plays a major role in the year-end compensation planning process for business segments and the overall organization.
  • Act as lead analyst for compensation analysis, benchmarking activities, market studies and salary structure analysis and updates.
  • Monitors the industry and external market and provide analysis on the impact of relevant developments in the compensation and benefits arena.
  • Consult with internal business segments on Synchrony Financial compensation policies and practices.
  • Create compensation and benefits models to provide analysis on critical business initiatives.
  • Provide general back-up coverage for members of the Synchrony Financial compensation & benefits team.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, math or science preferred
  • Minimum of 4+ years compensation experience
  • Advanced Excel Skills including VBA Macro

Desired Characteristics

  • Masters degree in business, finance or human resources related fields.
  • Compensation experience within the financial services industry.
  • Compensation experience including incentive plans.
  • Human Resources experience within a regulated environment.
  • Experience with Workday and corresponding reporting mechanism.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) Certification.
  • Advanced Excel Skills including VBA Macro
  • Ability to communicate with and influence all levels of the organization and drive change.
  • Demonstrated successful experience working in a demanding, high performance work environment and team oriented culture.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the selection process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • If currently a Synchrony Financial Employee, you must have been in your current position for at least 6 months (Level 4 - 7) or 24 months (level 8 or greater), have at least a "consistently meets expectations" performance rating and have the approval of your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR to apply if you don't meet the time-in-job or performance requirement
