Are you a Systems industry leader? Parsons is seeking a Chicago Area Manager to expand our Systems Division. This position reports to our US Midwest Regional Manager for the division.  This position will play a key role in developing business strategy, talent management and development, business development, directing and managing large/complex projects and managing operations in the area.  The successful candidate will be an effective "seller/doer" that balances business development, operational management and project management responsibilities.  Willingness to travel to client or project site locations is expected.

 
This position works for the US Midwest Regional Manager to continue the legacy of technical, operational and management excellence while growing a successful and sustainable business practice that creates a challenging and fun workplace.
 
The candidate will have a broad range of knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of the following Systems disciplines: rail signaling, communications, OCS/third rail, traction power, positive train control (PTC), vehicle, Safety Certification, Testing and Commissioning Systems Integration and Systems Engineering to name a few. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of design build (DB), design bid build (DBB) project delivery and be comfortable with both lump sum and cost plus fixed fee contract delivery.
 
We really like professionals who have worked across varied management capacities with and understanding of contract management, scheduling, estimating, risk mitigation, project development, scope definition and other traditional project management skills.
 
Client Management is a key aspect of the job and the candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships. The ideal candidate will be able to foster trusted advisor type relationships with local clients such as Metra, CTA and NICTD and other local agencies to position Parsons for new Rail Transit Systems opportunities as well as grow existing opportunities. Additionally, the candidate will establish relationships with other consultants, DBEs/SBEs, General Contractors and Electrical Contractors in support of teaming on future projects.
 
Capture Management is an important part of the job that includes writing proposals, developing scopes and design estimates, doing pre-bid engineering in support of contractor estimates and presenting to clients.
 
This position is based in Chicago and the candidate will work from the Parsons Chicago Office.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative and productive work relationships with all employees, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure consistency in project quality, budgetary constraints and expectations and that appropriate monitoring and control mechanisms are developed and administered.
  • Ability to represent Parsons in industry policy and engineering committees
  • Enhance the organization's profile and reach across the area

 

Qualifications
  • 15+ years of related work experience.
  • Project and staff management experience on large transportation projects
  • Technical experience in the area of systems design
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • Design-build experience preferred
  • Licensed PE
  • Good relationships with key clients in Chicago
