Facebook benefits?

Hi everyone! I am considering starting a facebook page for my business, as a way to connect and promote. Can any of you tell me the benefits or pitfalls of this possibility?  It seems that a 'business page' is a bit more limiting than a personal page, but still a place to connect. (I did have a personal page at one time, but deleted it.) Thanks for any ideas. Nina Read More

Anne Sciarrone Hi, Nina,

I am not a social media expert, but I have recently set up a page for my new business and have attended a few seminars on the subject.  I believe that you still have to have a personal page before you can even set up a business page.

There is an advantage of setting up your personal page and gathering your facebook friends before launching your professional page because that is the only way that you can promote it without buying an add - by suggesting that your friends like your business page.  Your hope is that your friends "like" the page and then their friends look to see what they are liking and like it too.  You can also put a link to facebook from your regular website.

Then of course you have to keep up the content on a regular basis to keep people looking.  That is the hardest part for me.

Good luck to you!
