My name is Donna Parker Crutchfield. I am a Certified Research Administrator (CRA). I received my Certification from the Research Administrators Certification Council in 2003. The Research Administrators Certification Council was formed in 1993 as an independent non-profit organization. The Council is composed of active certified research administrators whose role is to certify that an individual, through experience and testing, has the fundamental knowledge necessary to be a professional research or sponsored programs administrator. The designation of Certified Research Administrator (CRA) means that an individual has met the Research Administrator Certification Council's eligibility requirements and has demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental information necessary for a person to be a professional research or sponsored program administrator. My expertise in research administration includes working knowledge of the OMB Circulars, Federal Acquisition Regulations, Government Approved Accounting Procedures (GAAP), HIPPA requirements, Human and Animal Welfare protection. I have many years of experience at Duke University, a private non-profit university and hospital that conducts a wide range of research, both medical and non-medical. I have extensive knowledge of funding requirements for the NIH, DoD, NSF, and other federal agencies. I also have expertise with private foundations such as the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the Jimmy V Foundation, the Greenwall Foundation, as well as many industries that provide research funding.
Professional Societies that I have been involved with include NCURA, SRA International, and NCSRA where I served on the planning committee for three years. I was also invited to serve on the examination committee of the Research Administrators Certification Councils to develop certification-testing materials.
I am drawn to and passionate about charities that support cancer research, including the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which supports breast cancer research and the American Cancer Society. I have also enjoyed volunteering as a Lap Parent for preemies in the ICU at Duke Hospital and volunteering at the Durham VA Medical Center.
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have two daughters with five grandchildren between them. They rock my world. My favorite getaway is the beach, especially with the grandkids. I also enjoy reading, gardening, dancing, movies, music and a host of other activities
