These are all things that I never thought would be associated with my name but they are and none of this would have been possible if I hadn?t jointed a Toastmasters Club, Olympus Toastmasters Club.
At Toastmasters, I found that all my stories of many bumps of life, overcoming horrible obstacles and life?s challenges, were inspirational to others.
First & Foremost: I found my voice! I also discovered an effective way of running a well-organized meeting, writing and delivering speeches, giving insightful encouraging evaluations but the most exciting thing I discovered is: I love impromptu speaking. Participating in table topics at first was not easy for me. But then I attended one meeting where we had a ?Table Topics-a-Rama? and we only did non-stop table topics. This is where things changed for me. The other meeting members got to the point of having me speak on several topics in a row and were amazed I could stand there and find something to say no matter what the topic was and in very short order.
From that ?Table Topics-a-Rama? meeting, I developed the non-stop Table Topics presentation by getting my topics from my audience. I would explain up front that I would talk for 1-2 minutes on the topic and then ask for another topic and so on. I love giving this demonstration and the audience enjoys it and they feel like they are part of the presentation. I see this as a great opportunity to use a lot of humor.
I feel alive and passionate about sharing my life experiences and stories with my audience. I feel like this is the purpose of my life. I am convinced there are people out there that I need to reach to make a difference in their lives from one of my compelling stories. One of my stories will resonate with someone and what I did to turn things around for me; will inspire someone to take action for themselves.
