My name is Billie P Harvey, B.S., CLM - Certified Lodging Manager My skills and areas of expertise include Human Resources Management. My professional title is Housing Director at Navy Gateway Inns& Suites, which specializes in Hospitality and Tourism. I am currently involved with the American Hospitality Association. My hobbies and interests include traveling. I am drawn to and passionate about charitable organizations such as CASA.
I am the fifth child of twelve and because of the strong family ties and a much sronger mentor my Mother, Pearline Mchenry I have continued to succeed in all that I choose to pursue. I actually began my life as going to college for an RN, but quickly found that this was not the profession for me to continue to work toward.
I then decided to join the Navy and see the world and that I did. For over twenty years I served in the United States Navy and accomplished many accolades to my surprise. I had the opportunity to travel for education, and training. Taught Rights and Responsibility, was a Command Dapa and Command Career Counselor and even worked in a Brig as a Guard for approximately four years.
From my initial boot camp days I was selected to be in leadership and it continued twenty years later when I retired as the Senior Chief of Billeting in Corpus Christi, Tx. I not only retired from the Navy while working in Billeting but was blessed to find a job in the same genre and have been working with Navy Gateway Inns and Suites as well as Combined Bachelor Housing for over fifteen years.
Throughout my employment I have had the opportunity to receive my Associate of Arts in General Studies and my Bachelor of Science in Human Services Management. I also received acclaimed accolades, such as, the Zumwalt Award for Outstanding Customer Service. One 4-Star; and two 5-Stars for the Navy Gateway Inns and Suites. I received two back to back awards called the CEL "A" List Award for Customer Service for The Military Equivalent at NASCC.
I worked with CASA as a advocate for three years and am an avid supporter for the cause. I mentor in my spare time, support my personal family issues and work with my church religiously.
My life sounds full but the rewards have been substantial and I am so proud to be accepted into the NAPW and hopefully I will be a positive addition to an already stellar community.
