Denise A. Lettau joined SunTrust in the beginning of 2006. She has been part of the Special Needs Trust/Guardianship Unit for the past five years. Special Needs Trusts are trusts that are established to qualify disabled individuals for government benefits and assistance. The SunTrust Special Needs Unit is renowned for its expertise and passion for meeting the needs of the disabled community throughout its footprint. Denise is currently administering 90+ Special Needs Trusts throughout the state of Forida and beyond. She regularly speaks about the importance of establishing special needs trusts for individuals with special needs.

Ms. Lettau graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1982 and from the University of Puget Sound (now Seattle University School of Law) in 1987. She subsequently completed the International Law Programme in London, England through the University of Detroit (Mercy) in 1988. She is licensed to practice law in Florida and Washington, D.C. Ms. Lettau has spent most of her professional life outside of the U.S., mostly in Europe. In Germany she taught German students American law from 1988-1998, both at the University of Kiel in Kiel, Germany and later at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. As a result of this experience, Ms. Lettau is fluent in German.
