My name is Sharonne J Jacobs. My skills and areas of expertise include distance learning and instructional design. My professional title is Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS) at United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, which specializes in producing training for the Noncommissioned Officer Education System (NCOES). I was the project lead for the Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) team, which developed the Army's Structured Self-Development (SSD) Program. The SSD Program is the Department of the Army's online education program for Soldiers to complete in bewteen their NCOES courses. Currently, I am working in the Sergeants Major Course. I am the Senior ISS at the Academy and the only ISS that is a product of the Army Civilian Intern Program. I received my Master's in Education with a concentraion on Instructional Design from Auburn University. I am currently involved with United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA), Texas Distance Learning Association (TxDLA), Federal Government Distance Learning Association (FGDLA), Society for Applied Learning Technology (SALT), International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and several other professional socities such as Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. I am also an online faculty member at the University of Phoenix . My hobbies and interests include reading, graphic design, and travel. I am very active at my church, Word of Life Ministries, COGIC. I am drawn to and passionate about charitable organizations such as Austism Speaks. I have nephew, Xavier, who is autistic and he recently received a scholarship to a special needs private school. I am also passionate about Sickle Cell Disease Awareness. Recently a young lady from my church, Deseriann Strayhorn, passed away from the disease at the age of 22. I have seen the devastation this disease causes and will do what I can to help find a cure. I am also involved in mentoring youth and college students for they are our future.
