About Shana

My name is Shana H Vazquez-Hernandez. I am a business women and a mother of three wonderful young men. My skills and areas of expertise include but not limited to the financial aspects of the association. I handle the day to day operations of the association as well as coordinate all events, publish most of the publications and cultivate the relationships with our affinity program. My professional title is Director of Operations and Events at MN Retailers Association, which specializes in the welfare of retailers at the state capitol as well as offers discount programs to retailers to help run their businesses.

In my day to day tasks I am responsible for data entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, managing the organizations HR, creating and disbursing weekly e-blast to members, as well as publishing the quarterly newsletter and keeping the website up to date, helping and creating organizational and program budgets in collaboration with the President and Director of Government Relations, and other miscellaneous tasks.

Reporting to the President and to the Board of Directors this position's primary responsibility is ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the organization's daily functions.

This position also works to improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of organizations mission -- specifically, support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning. S/he manages and increases the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services (HR, IT and Finance), through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions. As well as, plays a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward operational excellence.

I received my Associates in Business Administration from Meridian Community College. I am currently involved with The Mid-West Society of Association Executives. My hobbies and interests include reading and traveling. I am drawn to and passionate about charitable organizations such as Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure.
