My name is Dawn J. Riddle My skills and areas of expertise include public information, special event coordination, and hospitality. As the on-site manager of a Victorian era showplace home, our adaptive reuse of an Historic District home has expanded from Bed & Breakfast and special events to include vacation house rental and interpretive programs. I earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Sociology at Virginia colleges: Mary Washington and William & Mary, respectively.
I have been the live-in manager of the restored 1889 Mansion on Main Bed & Breakfast in Smithfield for over a decade. This direct assistance to the property's owner entails duties and responsibilities at the Mansion House Art and Antiques specialty shop. Promotional efforts have include developing websites, various online pages and marketing pieces for both businesses. A delight for me is developing historic interpretation presentations- from private tours to open public events- for the showplace home of a Victorian era “Virginian of Virginians” (VA Historical Society, 1915).
