Jenny Welch started making goat-milk soaps from the milk produced by her herd of Nubian dairy goats while living in rural north Texas in the late 1990’s. Rediscovering a childhood fascination with chemistry, Jenny began experimenting with the milk, formulating lotions and other bath products that quickly became popular across the area. Caprabella (‘beautiful goat’ in Italian), her goat-milk soap and lotion brand, achieved wide recognition as she became more proficient with an ever-increasing range of product formulations.
In 2001 Jenny and her family ‘pulled up stakes’ and moved, goats and all, to a small island in the far northwestern corner of Washington State where her husband had grown up. Settling on a small farm on Orcas Island, Jenny continued making and selling her products and also branched out into offering specialty ingredients to other cosmetic formulators. As her interest in this endeavor grew, so did her product lines. Recognizing that her business had grown beyond the scope of Caprabella, Jenny formed Lotioncrafter.com in 2004. Now a web-based Internet business selling a wide range of cosmetic raw materials and supplies to artisans and formulators worldwide, Lotioncrafter.com continues a path of remarkable growth. As sales continue to achieve double-digit growth each year, she remains focused on distributing high-quality products reflective of her personal commitment to excellence.
