About Thomasena

Thomasena Martin-Johnson, author, historian multi-culturalist consultant, public speaker and world traveler, graduated from Northeastern State University in Talequah, Ok., where she majored in French, and minored in History. She began her career in education as a supply teacher in Denver Colorado. She later moved to Oklahoma where she taught English, History, and French. She received her masters degree in English, from Northern State University as well. Her skills and areas of expertise include Cross-Cultural Communications and culture, History, Anthropology, Ancient History, Egyptology, Creole Culture, and The Cain River Louisiana Saga. She also has a vast understanding of French, Greek, Spanish and Italian Cultures and how these cultures impacted the shaping of these United States of America.

Thomasena Martin-Johnson's career has spanned more that four decades in public education, private education culminating in an outstanding, unprecedented, university level career. Mrs. Martin Johnson has taught everybody from pre-K to adults; She teaches for results and the results are outstanding. She has raised test scores, and increased their knowledge, ignited passion, excellence, and inquiry. Many of her students have gone on to become innovators, public servants, preservationist , and educators just to name a few.

Mrs. Martin-Johnson is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. One of her focuses in the organization is Scholarship, merit and preparing young women for globalization.
Thomasena Martin-Johnson is the President of The Oklahoma Black Book Writer's Association and the local Professional Teachers of Writing group. Her hobbies and interests are diverse and numerous and has a proclivity for Foreign Languages, and culture. Other interest are Travel, Teaching Ballroom Dance, Teaching 9th-12th Graders To Model, and Dump Trucks.

She is also a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Sorority. Other organizations are Education is Power, Southern Book Writers and Artist, Spoken Word and End Abuse Now.

Her publications are a book of poetry, Post 1863 America The Beautiful, and is in the process of publishing a novel, Across Cain River. She also has poems published on Blackcat poems, BlackInAmerica, AuthorDen, and also have three books of poems being edited and a book of essays. She is working on a textbook for Literature containing contemporary styles and form. Other projects in the works are a family history and the history of Boley Oklahoma.

Thomasena has traveled to several European countries, Africa Canada and Mexico, and visited all of the states in the United States except Hawaii, Maine, and Florida.
