Hello everyone, my name is Shameka J. Duncan. I am originally from a small town in southern Mississippi. I moved to Atlanta right after high school to attend Morris Brown College, and made Atlanta my home. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, and I am currently two classes away from obtaining my master’s degree in Forensic Psychology.
I have an inherent passion for helping people which led me to become a Police Officer. I’ve been an Officer now for 9 ½ years and I am proud to have been appointed the Advisor over the department’s newly founded Explorer Program. The Explorer Program mentors kids’ ages 14-18 years of age who have a future interest in law enforcement. I also have recently been promoted from Corporal to Field Training Officer (F.T.O) which is my department's equivalent to the rank of Sergeant. I also love volunteering with a neighboring county’s task force aimed at assisting both victims of sexual assault, and domestic violence. I am proud to say that my life revolves around taking care of my family. I am the primary caregiver to my Mother, Janice, who was left a quadriplegic from a car accident, and also the parent of a wonderful eleven year-old, my son Justin. I am honored to become a member of this organization.
