Garden City, NY (PRWEB) January 13, 2010 -- The National Association of Professional Women's Sacramento chapter has been such a success, November 2009 was the fourth month that the Sacramento Chapter had two meetings, both a lunch and a dinner meeting, in order to accommodate the busy schedules of the members. This schedule has proved quite successful for everyone and will continue for the future. Exciting new topics discussed along with what to expect for the new year.
Sharon opened the meeting by welcoming everyone, with a special warm welcome for people attending for the first time. She then spoke about the http://www.merchantcircle.com/business/NAPW.516-877-5500 [National Association of Professional Women] and what makes it unique among networking groups, in particular the importance of supporting and honoring the "whole woman", rather than just the business or professional identities of the members. She gave them the current numbers of the local chapters, but expressed our pride in being the first in the nation. Sharon then discussed the newly clarified membership levels and benefits information that she received, which is particularly useful for our guests. She reminded everyone about the ongoing promotion, "Women to Watch in the NAPW" and provided the email address for people to make nominations -- and thanked everyone for supporting her in being named one of the winners for the month of October!
The next segment of the meeting was made up of individual introductions, but before turning over the recorder to the first speaker, Sharon asked everyone to think about 2 questions: what do they do to relieve stress through the holidays that might be useful for others, and do they have a money saving tip to share. As an example of the second idea, Sharon shared a suggestion that came to her from Susan Harke about doing all her shipping through Paypal, which saves her $.85 on every USPS Priority Mail flat rate envelope!
Each member then introduced herself and talked a little about herself and her business. In addition to the business information, a wealth of good suggestions were provided relating to the 2 questions. Stress relievers included a wide range of ideas! Linda Melody, of Prepaid Legal, reduces stress by making sure she stays well organized. Rebecca Ward, owner of Rebecca Ward Design, reduces stress by pretending Christmas is on the 15th, and using that as a deadline for having everything done so she can relax and just enjoy the last 10 days of the season. Her money saving tip was drawing names for gift giving. Susan Harke, owner of 2 businesses, Harke Income Tax Service / 2 Gun Tex Mobile Notary Service, suggested a truly unique destresser -- she recommended watching the Dog Whisperer because putting oneself into the calm state for your dog means you have to be calm first! To save money she eliminated holiday card giving and donates to charity instead. Janet Moe, who is involved with music programs at her local church and school district, suggested reducing stress by going to one of the local music programs, and she provided information on one that supports pancreatic cancer research. June Azevedo, of Azevedo Print & Design, combined stress relief and ultimately saving money as well by suggesting a wonderful called "How To Get Organized Without Resorting To Arson". Andrea Newhouse, who is director of the Easter Seals aquatic program, relieves stress through quiet time with meditation and prayer, and saves money by making her own Christmas cards and either hand-delivering or emailing them. Shirl Whiteman, a representative for the Empire Pharmacy Trade Association, is starting a new business while still working a full-time job, so is spending money rather than saving it! She has lots of stress in her life right now, but finds both commuting through beautiful country and attending our chapter meetings helps her relax. Kate Carroll, owner of KC Designs Interiors, agrees that organization is a huge help in reducing stress, but also emphasizes using the computer for research to save both time and money. Lucille Barnett, a representative for NuSkin, reminded us that women often fail to take care of themselves, but taking a few minutes each day or even each week can work as a great destresser. Linda Avena, owner of A & Y Billing Solutions, also spoke of good organization as a stress reliever and recommended going to vistaprint.com for lots of free things for your business. Darlene Justice, a CPA who plies her trade as Darlene Justic, CPA, recommended several stress relievers, particularly good organization, exercise and music. For saving money she repeated her favorite advise to her daughter -- only buy what you need! Sharon Donat, if Carlin Insurance Agency, loves music to reduce stress and plays a CD of "The Melody of Lost Lake" when she goes to sleep. To save money she recommends getting every possible discount from your insurance carrier, and always putting home and auto coverage with the same company to save. Terry Hicks, a stateworker and owner of It's All Good Catering Service, destresses by enjoying her grandchildren. Sara Lopez, of SGL Enterprises, destresses by helping others develop their own businesses and save money by purchasing online. Cheryl Teague, from Pinnacle Capital Mortgage, likes to reduce her stress by working in the yard and weeding -- she says it is amazing what a dandelion can do for you! Terry Maxwell, auther and owner of The Maxwell Group, finds that stress disappears when she finishes a task that she was determined to do. She says that a great way to save money is to go to the Dollar Store! Connie Sichon, who works for the California Energy Commission, is new to the Sacramento area. She destresses by enjoying dancing and music. Her suggestions for saving money is to watch discounts.
http://vator.tv/company/napw [NAPW Member] Evette Smith, owner of Therapeutic & Sports Body Works, spoke about her business and then gave a wonderful presentation about the use of TRUessence oils for health and reducing stress. Her topic was so broad that she had to just touch on a few high points, with lots of information on how people can follow up for additional information. She spoke about the importance of nourishing our bodies with materials from healthy plants, plants that have been grown and harvested with great care and respect. She talked about the importance of knowing the source of the materials and oils that we use in and on our bodies, since the purity makes a great difference. Evette is a wealth of knowledge about the various types of essential oils and how they can be combined and used to enhance our immune systems and increase our health and vitality, both extremely important as we go into this winter holiday season! She brought several samples for us to experience, and explained how they would be used. Evette even offered to send an email follow up to our members so that they could download a great reference book, "Essential Oils and Infectious Diseases". Evette not only shared lots of good information, but also was gracious enough to answer lots and lots of questions.
Both meetings were enjoyed by all, full of warmth and sharing. All the members, whether attending for the first time or one who has come to many meetings, enjoyed the opportunity to share and support one another.
