Marlo Calloway, SHRM-CP/PHR "I am Thankful For..." November is a month of reflection and of thankfulness. Even though some of the biggest parts of this holiday season revolve around food, it's important to remember to give thanks. What are some of the things you are most grateful about from the last year? What are some things you hope to be thankful for in the coming year? NAPW Newport News will reflect and continue to give thanks to our local community for their support of our chapter. We also want to continue to support our local community by way of giving back to our three local women organizations that supports the well being of women and children in crisis; Dress for Success, Daniel's Blessings and the Menchville House. Dress for Success is in need of professional attire and dress shoes for women with barriers to employment. Daniel's Blessings is founded by our own chapter sister, Candy Hayes who collects toys for orphaned girls and boys in Haiti. Candy has an annual retreat to Haiti where she distributes the toys to the welcoming arms of the children in Haiti. Menchville House is a forty six-bed emergency housing facility for homeless families, located in the Denbigh area of Newport News on Warwick Blvd. The agency works with other homeless service providers and social service agencies that offer families the services and support needed to return to self-sufficiency. Come and network with a purpose of servitude on the evening of Tuesday, November 17th. It will be a night to enjoy good food and to write your thanks on cards to our women serving overseas and locally in the military. You are also welcomed to write words of encouragement to the women and children at the Menchville House. Writing materials and supplies will be provided. We will raffle off prizes for holiday gift giving. ****Professional Clothing attire and shoes donated to Dress for Success will be delivered by Monday, Nov. 23rd.
