Nina Angela Downie, MPT MEMORY LOSS / DEMENTIA have a profound effect on anyone who interacts with persons having this diagnosis. As a licensed Physical Therapist, I have been on the front lines of the communication gap that hinders the valuable and necessary connection with those we care about. In an effort to reduce the difficulty and frustration that family, friends, caregivers and skilled health care professionals encounter when repeatedly having to answer the same few questions, over and over again, I created GRANNY CARDS as an aid to communication. I have found a way to reduce the frequent, non-verbal transmission of frustration via facial expressions, tone of voice and body language by using a game-like aid to communicate. The key phrase is “In the moment”, as that is what we are improving. If this affects you, please take a few minutes to watch this video about GRANNY CARDS and see how easy it is to greatly improve your communication with someone who has MEMORY LOSS. https://youtu.be/P4lK-fld9Ic GRANNY CARDS can be purchased on my website below by going to/clicking on the PRODUCTS TAB. Thank you for caring about this unique population, Nina Angela Downie, MPT www.mypt4health.com

Ola Jackson April is the month to take advantage of the extra daylight savings time and to get release the heavy winter stress. Our speaker/presenter this month is someone you don’t want to miss. Get ready to be empowered and inspired by international published author/speaker with a powerful message on Building Confidence, overcoming tragedy, grief recovery and learning to live a life with passion and purpose. It is a message Mrs. Rickard has learned from her own life and one she is helping others apply to their lives. Her award-winning book, Wake Up Call...A Mother's Grief Journey, is a true story written after her 17 year old son was killed tragically in an auto accident.
