GALVESTON, 1900, INDIGNITIES, The Arrival, Book One
This is a must read historical fiction packed with dark suspense, romance and tragedy. After arriving in Galveston, Texas, from England, at the turn of the century, a young courageous fifteen year-old girl old, Catherine Eastman must face a new life in an orphanage after her mother is murdered by a drifter shortly after they arrive. The drifter, David Brooks, has his own dark past and a passion for prostitutes and beautiful women and often leaves them dead. A young man, ten years older than Catherine, gets permission to marry her and take her from the orphanage on her sixteenth birthday. Love and passion ignite as the two fall in love. Brooks' next conquest is Catherine, and after he abducts and violates her, he is caught and sent to a prison farm. All of this is happening while the city of Galveston is blithely unaware of the devastation that waits in the near future. By 1900, a monstrous hurricane is brewing in the gulf that will kill thousands and threaten to wipe the city off the map forever.

A Cry in the Night: The City of Lights' Dark Side
A Cry in the Night is based on the life and death of innocence in the South. The non-fiction tells the story of one such dreamer & an 18-year-old Civil Rights worker who meets a grizzly fate in pursuit of justice for all. The book is published by Outskirts Press.  The back drop of the story unfolds in Canton, Miss., in the 1960s steeped in violence, and saturated in hatred and murder. It is precisely the type of place where a young idealist might believe she could make a mark on the world.

Underserved women of color, voice and resistance: Claiming a seat at the table
Contemporary research on the lives and experiences of women of color tends to neglect the influence of women’s perceived access to voice as they manage tensions related to race, class, and gender. Underserved Women of Color, Voice, and Resistance: Claiming a Seat at the Table contributes to current dialogues that construct Black Feminist Theory as active, critical engagement within dominant American institutions that oppress women of color in their daily lives. Women of color face unique social challenges that exist at the intersections of race, gender, class, and sexual orientation. While some challenges are common to women of color, others reflect the distinct journey each woman makes as she negotiates her identity within her family, professional circle, social and romantic relationships, and community. The editors have constructed a rich collection of voices in this work exploring the politics of women of color across various social contexts.
